Yesterday I was looking through my high school "scrappybook" and became inspired by a page with the words "Sex God" scribbled across the top.
I'm totally dedicating these to myself at 15. I used to try and try and try to draw portraits of Brian, doodling away in the margins of my notebook paper. Luckily, over the last six years, my hand has developed a bit more and I can actually do Mr. Molko a bit of justice. These were my realism for the week and I had so much fun with the first one, that I decided to do two! Portraits inspired by this photograph and this photograph.

Tim Gunn: Captain of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D?

This is a quick sketch I did to cheer my husband up upon getting off of a 12 hour shift. Our two favorite shows are Project Runway and Star Trek: The Next Generation. We're huge dorks (obviously) and are constantly coming up with new people we think would be hilarious suitable replacements for Picard. Can't you just imaging Tim Gunn on the bridge telling the crew to "make it work people, engage"? (another favorite is Alex Trebek)

This was my first time trying a portrait in pen and ink, so the hair is messed up and the shading is a bit off. It still makes me giggle, though! I'm planning on redrawing it and taking more time at some point.

Even though realism isn't my favorite, I still try to do at least one piece a week to sharpen my technical skills.
